Patricia Jarvis Voljavec
Legislative Counsel
Ms. Voljavec brings 20 years of experience working with and for the
Executive and Legislative branches of government. She has developed expertise
in the areas of health and human services and Native American affairs.
Prior to joining Jefferson Government Relations, LLC (Jefferson), Ms. Voljavec served
as special counsel to the Legislative Strategies Group (LSG), a government
relations firm. Before joining LSG, Ms. Voljavec was a consultant with
The Jefferson Group, a predecessor of Jefferson. Earlier, Ms. Voljavec spent
7 years as a member of Gold and Liebengood where she served as a lobbyist
to the firm's clientele. She has represented Fortune 500 Companies, small
business owners, nonprofit organizations, Indian Tribes, and local governing
authorities before Congress, the Administration and Federal agencies.
Before entering the private sector, Ms. Voljavec served in the Office
of the Assistant Secretary for Legislation at the Department of Health
and Human Services. She was a principal liaison between the Reagan Administration
and Congress on key health issues. She carried significant responsibilities
for Medicare and Medicaid then managed by the Health Care Financing Administration
(HCFA) as well as key divisions of the Public Health Service. While at
the Department, Ms. Voljavec also served as the Secretary's principal
representative to the National Advisory Council on Aging.
Other public service includes several years as a Legislative Assistant
to House Deputy Whip Tom Loeffler (R-Texas), John McCain (R-Arizona),
and Bill Lowery (R-California). During this time, Ms. Voljavec worked
on a wide range of domestic policy issues and was the Minority Staff Director
for the House Task Force on Women and Social Security.
Ms. Voljavec holds a Masters in Business Administration from Marymount
University and an undergraduate degree in History from the University
of San Diego.
