Daniel J. Sheehan brings fifteen years of legislative experience to clients through his work at Jefferson Government Relations, LLC (Jefferson) and in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. Having served on both personal and committee staff during his tenure on Capitol Hill, Mr. Sheehan's knowledge and expertise in legislative and public policy matters give him the necessary ability to meet the needs of clients in an effective and comprehensive manner.
At Jefferson, Mr. Sheehan helps clients achieve their goals by designing strategic plans based on thoughtful analyses and sound recommendations. In executing these plans, Mr. Sheehan excels in delicate negotiations with congressional and federal agency officials, careful monitoring of the legislative and regulatory processes and persuasive issues-related advocacy.
Prior to joining Jefferson, Mr. Sheehan served as a legislative assistant to Senator Charles S. Robb of Virginia. In this capacity, he counseled Senator Robb in matters concerning budget, appropriations, taxation, banking, and the economy.
Before joining Senator Robb's staff, Mr. Sheehan served as a professional staff member of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Exports, Tax Policy, and Special Problems. Working closely with Chairman Norman Sisisky (D-VA-4), Mr. Sheehan used his expertise in such areas as international trade, export finance and promotion, wetlands regulations, and taxation to effect change in policy and statutes.
Previously, Mr. Sheehan served as a legislative assistant to Representative Sisisky, providing him with advice and counsel in numerous legislative areas including transportation, appropriations, commerce, public works, education, labor, and the environment.
Mr. Sheehan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and economics from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
